The players interpreted the plan very well, and we managed to score five goals, which is a great way to start a tournament like this,” Tomé said. “We invested a lot of time in analyzing our rivals, and the coaching staff has been preparing for this Euro for a long time. All the teams have the same limited time to prepare, so it is crucial to make the most of it.”
Tomé also praised the players’ intelligence and adaptability:
“We have to congratulate the players. You just have to give them two or three instructions and they execute them perfectly. With all their talent, they manage to shine. We know how we want to play — we are a team that likes to have the ball but there is always an opponent who will try to disrupt that, depending on their own style,” she added.
