Chelsea didn’t miss the opportunity to fire back at Flamengo fans following their qualification for the Club World Cup final. The English club responded with a pointed social media post, referencing previous banter between the two sides during the group stage of the tournament.

Back when Flamengo defeated Chelsea 3-1 in the group stage, the Brazilian club’s official account posted a cheeky message asking, “Where are Chelsea fans now?” In a playful response after their semifinal victory, the Blues replied: “In New York, getting ready to play the Club World Cup final.”

Flamengo Fans Still Cheer Chelsea’s Run

Despite the taunt, many Flamengo supporters expressed satisfaction at Chelsea’s advance to the final. That’s because the English side knocked out two of Flamengo’s domestic rivals Palmeiras and

Fluminense in the knockout rounds.

Flamengo, meanwhile, were eliminated in the round of 16, falling 4-2 to Bayern Munich, and exited the tournament earlier than expected.

Final Set for July 13

Chelsea will play the Club World Cup final on Sunday, July 13, at 4 p.m. (Brasília time). Their opponent will be determined on Wednesday, when Real Madrid face Paris Saint-Germain in the second semifinal.
