Besiktas seeks to sign Matheuzinho from Corinthians after failing in talks with Milan for Emerson Royal

Besiktas are turning their attention to Corinthians right-back Matheuzinho after missing out on a deal for Emerson Royal. The Turkish club is expected to make a formal offer in July, with the defender now seen as a top priority to reinforce the right flank.
Matheuzinho Emerges as Plan B for Besiktas
Besiktas had initially pursued a move for Emerson Royal, formerly of Tottenham and Milan, but the Brazilian defender opted for a transfer to Flamengo, derailing the Turkish club’s plans.
With that deal off the table, Besiktas quickly shifted their focus to 23-year-old Matheuzinho, who has been a standout at Corinthians. According to journalist André Hernan, the Turkish giants are seriously considering a permanent transfer and are optimistic about reaching an agreement.
Club Prepares Formal Offer
Although no official bid has been submitted yet, Besiktas have already initiated contact with Matheuzinho’s representatives and the Corinthians board. The club intends to act swiftly and aims to conclude negotiations before the end of the summer window.
Matheuzinho has been one of Corinthians’ regular starters and is seen as a long-term solution in defense by Besiktas. The Turkish side is reportedly prepared to make a bold offer to secure his services.
Complexities in Player Ownership
The negotiation could prove complicated due to the shared ownership of the player’s rights. Corinthians currently own just 50% of Matheuzinho’s economic rights, while the remaining share is split between Flamengo and Londrina. The São Paulo club also still owes installments related to his transfer, which may affect the terms of the deal.
