Benfica wants Asensio and presents PSG with a million-dollar offer for his signing

Portuguese club targets Spanish forward after João Félix setback

Benfica has made a formal offer to sign Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Portuguese outlet CMTV. The Eagles are eager to secure attacking reinforcements this transfer window and have identified the Spanish winger as a priority target.

Asensio no longer in PSG’s plans

After a brief loan spell at Aston Villa, where Asensio showed flashes of quality, PSG decided not to include him in their squad for the upcoming season. The 28-year-old has now returned to the market, with his representatives actively seeking a new club for him to regain regular minutes and a starring role.

Benfica’s interest comes at a crucial time, especially after missing out on João Félix, who opted to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.

Benfica’s bid: €11 million on the table

Benfica has reportedly offered €11 million to Paris Saint-Germain for Asensio. The club’s directors believe the figure is sufficient to secure the transfer, especially given that the player is no longer in PSG’s sporting plans.

Asensio is seen as a technically gifted forward who can add creativity, experience, and depth to Benfica’s front line an essential asset ahead of their UEFA Champions League campaign.

PSG open to negotiations?

While PSG has not yet publicly responded to the proposal, insiders suggest that a sale is likely, given Asensio’s fringe status in the squad. The Parisians may view this as a good opportunity to offload a player whose salary no longer aligns with their long-term vision.

If completed, the move could be one of the standout bargains of the transfer window, considering Asensio’s pedigree and Champions League experience.
