Corinthians reject Roma’s €30 million bid for Yuri Alberto amid FIFA transfer ban

Corinthians have turned down a €30 million (R$190 million) proposal from Roma for striker Yuri Alberto, choosing to keep one of their most valuable players despite financial temptation.
Offer Arrived at the End of the Transfer Window
According to reports, the Italian club made its move in the final hours of the transfer market. However, Corinthians’ board quickly dismissed the approach, considering the timing inadequate and the squad’s current limitations under FIFA sanctions.
FIFA Sanctions Tie Corinthians’ Hands
The São Paulo giants are currently under a FIFA transfer embargo, which prevents them from registering new players. This restriction makes it impossible for the club to replace Yuri Alberto if he were sold, forcing the management to treat him as non-negotiable.
Corinthians also own 50% of the striker’s economic rights, meaning only half of the proposed amount would have gone to the club.
Yuri Alberto Seen as Indispensable
Yuri Alberto, whose contract runs until 2030, is regarded as a key figure in Corinthians’ attack. Beyond his goalscoring ability, his leadership and influence on the pitch are seen as essential to maintaining competitiveness during a turbulent period.
The refusal to sell reflects the club’s long-term strategy of protecting its core players until the FIFA ban is lifted.
Club Works Behind the Scenes Against Sanctions
Corinthians’ board is actively working to resolve the embargo and restore freedom in the transfer market. Until then, the priority is to safeguard the current squad and ensure stability, especially with Yuri Alberto at the center of the project.
