Manchester City beats Wolverhampton and takes third place in the Premier League

The season was painful for Manchester City , but Pep Guardiola’s team has been recovering ground and yesterday reached the podium with a hard-fought victory at the Etihad, against a Wolverhampton side who were unlucky and only failed to secure at least a point because they saw two shots hit the posts by Ederson .

Manchester City had possession of the ball from the first moments and the first warning came with a shot from distance, slightly wide, by Rúben Dias .

Wolverhampton took the lesson well studied, prevented Manchester City from playing calmly and so the clear goal opportunities took a while to appear .

Unable to get forward quickly and without space near the Wolverhampton area , Manchester City only avoided being at a disadvantage in the 22nd minute because, with the home team’s defense leaking, Bellegarde ‘s pass was too strong and Munetsi couldn’t reach it.

The minutes passed, Wolverhampton were increasingly comfortable in the game. More and more dangerous. In an excellent move, Ait Nouri did everything right, but with Ederson beaten the ball hit the post.

Manchester City were out of sorts, they seemed to be in a straitjacket and every time they tried to push up their lines they suffered from the quick counter-attacks from Vítor Pereira’s team. It was only in the 33rd minute that O’Reilly found space and shot dangerously, but José Sá ‘s save was impressive.

Soon after the warning, Doku was disconcerting on the left, passing back to De Bruyne , who with class scored the first in a game that until then had been tremendously complicated for Pep Guardiola’s team.

With the advantage, Manchester City calmed down, stole the ball from Wolverhampton and returned to their usual management, with possession, even though they continued to be unable to break through the visiting team’s defensive lines.

Without putting in a quality performance, Manchester City went into the break with the advantage, but without having the game under control and knowing that the second half could be very complicated. And the draw only didn’t come because Matheus Cunha was unlucky and saw the post return a shot that seemed unstoppable (57′).

Then the game stopped having goalposts. Manchester City managing, without the ability to reach shooting areas and Wolverhampton losing the ability to threaten the blue defense.
