Bayern legend could make history this weekend
Experienced German striker Thomas Muller has the chance to win his 13th Bundesliga title next Saturday
There are three games left in the Bundesliga , but with an eight-point lead over holders Bayer Leverkusen , Bayern could clinch the title as soon as this weekend if they beat Leipzig .
Should they secure the title, there is one player in the Bavarian outfit who will have plenty of reason to celebrate. Thomas Muller joined Bayern aged 10 and last week made his 500th Bundesliga appearance, meaning he could now celebrate his 13th Bundesliga title in what will be his final season at the club.
This feat would represent a domestic record, as no player has won 13 Bundesliga titles , and would be only the second player in one of the top five European leagues to achieve that figure, after Ryan Giggs playing for Manchester United .
“It sounds good, doesn’t it?” Muller said of the record he has in his sights. “There’s always a lot of work and you have to be consistent over time,” he added.
In 17 years in Bayern ‘s first team , Thomas Muller has made 748 appearances for the club, scoring 248 goals and providing 221 assists. Impressive numbers from the striker who helped the Bavarians win 32 titles.
