Arsenal defines strategy to sign Real Madrid’s Arda Güler after initial market rejection

Arsenal continues to monitor Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler, keeping the Turkish youngster on their radar after initial attempts to sign him were paused. The London club sees a potential opportunity to bring him in during the January 2026 transfer window.

Arsenal’s Strategy After Initial Market Rejection

The Gunners, who were the third-highest spending club in last summer’s Premier League window, had previously shown strong interest in Arda Güler. Negotiations were initially delayed due to Carlo Ancelotti’s management, but the arrival of Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid changed the dynamics, as the youngster regained playing time and prominence.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that Arsenal could make a renewed attempt in January, especially if Güler loses minutes following the return of Jude Bellingham and the integration of Franco Mastantuono into Real Madrid’s midfield.

Arda Güler’s Numbers and Contract

During the 2024/25 season, Güler played 49 matches, contributing 6 goals and 10 assists. Despite being underutilized under Ancelotti in certain periods, he maintained the same goal ratio he had in just 12 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign.

  • Contract: June 2029
  • Market value: €45 million (~R$284 million)

Arsenal’s Big Spending Window

Arsenal finished the summer window with €293.5 million (~R$1.85 billion) in expenditures, behind only Liverpool and Chelsea in European spending. Key signings included:

  • Martín Zubemendi: €70 million
  • Eberechi Eze: €69.3 million from Crystal Palace
  • Viktor Gyökeres: €65.8 million from Sporting

The club’s willingness to invest heavily suggests they are ready to pursue Arda Güler if the opportunity arises in January.
