Grêmio targets free agent Willian after his departure from Fulham

Former Corinthians and Chelsea striker Willian is on Grêmio’s radar as the Porto Alegre club looks to strengthen its attack for the rest of the Brazilian season.

Willian Attracts Interest After Fulham Exit

The 36-year-old forward became a free agent in June after Fulham opted not to renew his contract. Since then, several teams have contacted his representatives to explore a possible deal.

Willian, who has also played for Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk and Corinthians, remains open to offers and is determined to continue competing at a high level.

Grêmio Make First Move

According to ESPN Brasil, Grêmio has already held initial talks with the player’s agents. The Imortal Tricolor expressed interest in bringing him back to Brazil and hope to complete a deal in early September.

At this stage, no formal proposal has been submitted. Grêmio is waiting for a positive response from Willian before advancing negotiations.

Competition From Abroad

Grêmio’s pursuit is complicated by the fact that Willian is also attracting interest from Major League Soccer clubs and teams in Saudi Arabia, which could present financially stronger offers.

For the Brazilian side, however, Willian’s return would represent not only a technical boost but also a significant commercial appeal, given his status as one of the most experienced and recognizable Brazilian players of his generation.
