Palmeiras targets Julio Enciso while Brighton demands R$157 million

Palmeiras have emerged as frontrunners in the race to sign Brighton’s Julio Enciso, but negotiations remain challenging. The English club has set a price tag between €25 million and €30 million (around R$157 million) and wants to retain 20% of the Paraguayan forward’s economic rights for a future profit.

Negotiations Stall Over Valuation

According to Mix Vale, Palmeiras made an initial offer of €10 million for 60% of Enciso’s rights, which Brighton promptly rejected. Despite limited opportunities in the Premier League, the 21-year-old impressed during a loan spell at Ipswich Town last season, making 13 appearances, scoring twice, and delivering three assists.

Brighton Open to Deal but Standing Firm

The Seagulls are reportedly open to selling, but only if Palmeiras meet their financial demands. Enciso, who joined Brighton from Libertad in 2022, has made 57 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and providing six assists. His early career in Paraguay saw him tally 33 goal contributions in 72 games for Libertad.

Palmeiras’ Transfer Push Continues

With a strong Copa Libertadores campaign underway, Abel Ferreira’s side is seeking to strengthen its squad for the season’s decisive phase. Cruzeiro’s withdrawal from the race has placed Palmeiras in a favorable position for Enciso, though financial negotiations remain the main hurdle.

Arthur Melo Also on Verdão’s Radar

Enciso is not the club’s only high-profile target. Palmeiras are also monitoring Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo, formerly of Barcelona and Liverpool, as they aim to reinforce multiple areas of the squad ahead of the Brazilian Championship’s final stretch.
