Carlos Soler could leave PSG: Real Sociedad and Villarreal are monitoring the midfielder

Carlos Soler’s future at Paris Saint-Germain is uncertain. Without space in Luis Enrique’s squad, the 28-year-old midfielder could be sold in this transfer window, with Real Sociedad and Villarreal among the interested clubs, according to Marca.

Real Sociedad leads the race

Real Sociedad coach Sergio Francisco has requested reinforcements for midfield, and Soler’s name is among the priorities. However, the operation faces two obstacles: PSG’s high asking price and the Spaniard’s salary, considered steep for La Liga standards.

One alternative being studied is a loan deal, which could reduce the financial burden. Villarreal has also made initial contacts, while Soler himself has not ruled out the possibility of continuing in the Premier League after a season with West Ham.

From Valencia idol to PSG surplus

Formed at Valencia, Soler became a fan favorite, winning the Copa del Rey and surpassing 200 appearances for the club. In 2022, PSG signed him for €18 million, but he failed to secure a regular role.

Loaned to West Ham last season, he played 33 matches in England. For PSG, he has 63 appearances and four titles. Despite his experience, he is now considered expendable in Paris.

National team background

Soler has represented Spain’s senior side 14 times, scoring four goals. His last call-up came in 2022, after winning the European U-21 Championship in 2019.

PSG continues in Ligue 1

While Soler’s future is being discussed, PSG focuses on Ligue 1. The French champions face Toulouse this Saturday (30), at 4:05 pm (Brasília time), in the third round of the competition.
