Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson agrees to join Manchester United

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is open to a transfer to Manchester United, as the Senegalese forward finds himself at risk of losing his starting spot under head coach Enzo Maresca following the arrival of Brazilian star João Pedro. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Old Trafford is Jackson’s preferred destination if he leaves Stamford Bridge this summer.
The 23-year-old wore the number 9 shirt at Chelsea, but could now assume that role for United, who are actively reshaping their attacking options under new management.
Chelsea Faces Pressure to Sell
Chelsea is under increasing pressure to offload players to meet UEFA’s financial fair play rules, especially as the club aims to register recent signings, including highly touted Brazilian teenager Estêvão, for the upcoming UEFA Champions League.
To comply, the Blues have placed several players on their negotiable list, with Jackson among those considered expendable.
Despite his initial desire to stay and fight for his place, the forward is aware that João Pedro’s strong early performances have shifted the club’s attacking hierarchy, pushing him further down the pecking order.
Asking Price Considered High by United
Chelsea have set a price tag of £80 million, approximately €94 million, for Jackson a figure Manchester United reportedly consider excessive. While initial contacts have been made, no formal offer has yet been submitted.
United, who are also in the midst of a squad rebuild under Rúben Amorim, view Jackson as a potential fit for the number 9 role should ongoing departures and tactical changes require reinforcements in attack.
Jackson’s Contribution Last Season
Last season, Jackson featured in 37 matches across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists, for a total of 19 goal involvements. His work rate, pace, and off-the-ball movement were praised, but inconsistency in front of goal raised doubts about his long-term role.
With Chelsea aiming to avoid UEFA sanctions and United searching for attacking options, a deal could materialize in the coming weeks if both clubs can agree on a reduced transfer fee.
