Newcastle United are showing signs they could be willing to part ways with one of their most important players, as interest from Saudi Arabia intensifies around Brazilian midfielder Joelinton.

After several strong seasons that included a run to the Carabao Cup final, Newcastle’s current campaign has been less convincing. Eddie Howe’s side is sitting mid-table in the Premier League, and that situation has put some of the club’s key players in the spotlight ahead of the next transfer window.

Saudi Arabia Targeting Joelinton

According to TEAMtalk, Joelinton has emerged as a concrete target for clubs in the Saudi Pro League. Teams backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are reportedly monitoring the midfielder closely and are expected to consider a formal approach in January.

Joelinton has been one of Newcastle’s most consistent performers since being converted from a forward into a box-to-box midfielder. His physical presence, work rate, and leadership have made him a fan favorite at St James’ Park, and his form has also earned him a place in the Brazilian national team, for whom he has made eight appearances.

Despite his importance, Newcastle are not ruling out a potential sale. The club reportedly believes that, at 29 years old, Joelinton may not attract significantly higher offers in future windows, making this a possible moment to cash in if the right proposal arrives.

Newcastle Weigh Squad Changes

Joelinton is not the only player drawing attention. TEAMtalk also reports that full-back Tino Livramento could be made available, with Manchester City monitoring his situation closely and prepared to make a move if Newcastle open negotiations.

With Financial Fair Play considerations and a desire to refresh the squad, Newcastle may be forced into difficult decisions involving established starters.

Player’s Perspective and Contract Situation

From Joelinton’s point of view, a move to Saudi Arabia would represent a major financial opportunity, with the chance to secure a lucrative long-term contract. While no official bid has been submitted yet, expectations are growing that talks could begin during the January transfer window.

Joelinton remains under contract at Newcastle until June 2028. This season, he has made 20 appearances under Eddie Howe, scoring three goals, while also featuring once for Brazil.
