Igor Coronado Joins Sharjah After Leaving Corinthians
Midfielder Igor Coronado has been officially announced as the newest signing for Sharjah, of the United Arab Emirates, this Friday (July 4). The move comes shortly after the player’s departure from Corinthians at the end of June, following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract due to unpaid debts by the club.
Coronado had been under contract with Corinthians until February 2026 but chose to end the relationship after the club failed to pay around R$10 million in salaries and bonuses. The agreement to terminate his deal is expected to generate savings of approximately R$16 million for Corinthians’ finances.
This marks the 32-year-old midfielder’s second spell with Sharjah, where he previously played from 2018 to 2021 before moving to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. Coronado has now signed a new two-year contract with the UAE club.

Coronado’s Spell at Corinthians
Igor Coronado joined Corinthians in 2024 as one of the marquee signings under president Augusto Melo’s administration. A boyhood fan of Timão, he was welcomed with high expectations, but his time in São Paulo was marked by inconsistency.
On the field, he played 67 matches, scoring seven goals and providing five assists. Despite helping Corinthians win the 2024 Campeonato Paulista the club’s first title in six years Coronado struggled to maintain a regular place in the lineup. Injuries and physical problems limited his availability, and he also faced stiff competition from Rodrigo Garro, who emerged as a key player for the team.
Now, Coronado will look for a fresh start back in the UAE, hoping to revive the form that once made him a fan favorite at Sharjah.
