The debate over Benjamin Sesko’s role at Manchester United has reached a boiling point, with club legends Gary Neville and Roy Keane leading the calls for the Slovenian to finally start.

Despite netting the winner against Everton his seventh Premier League goal of the season the 22-year-old has been restricted to a “super-sub” role under Michael Carrick. However, after scoring three goals in just five appearances under the interim boss, the pundits believe the time for “impact cameos” is over.

The “Gyokeres” Comparison

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Gary Neville compared Sesko’s recent explosion in form to one of Europe’s most feared marksmen.

“He’s definitely grown, a little bit like [Viktor] Gyokeres in these last few weeks,” Neville noted. “You would think now, he’s going to play him at the weekend [against Crystal Palace].”

Roy Keane: “Confidence has Lifted the Weight”

Known for his tough critiques, Roy Keane was surprisingly full of praise for the young striker, highlighting a shift in his mentality.

“Confidence, yeah. Even earlier in the season, he was getting into good positions,” Keane explained. “The weight has been lifted off his shoulders. The test now is: you’ve got to be the main man. Can you take that?”

When asked by Neville if Sesko looks “quicker and more powerful,” Keane attributed it to the momentum of a natural goalscorer: “Isn’t that always the case when someone is scoring goals?”

Ian Wright’s Technical Praise

Former Arsenal icon Ian Wright focused on the technical difficulty of Sesko’s strike at Goodison Park, dismissing the idea that it was an “easy” finish.

“What people underestimate is his concentration,” Wright said. “He had a long time to look at that ball coming across. The contact, the timing… it was fantastic.”

Sesko Breaks Silence: “They are Getting Me Ready”

Amidst the external pressure on Michael Carrick, Sesko himself remains remarkably composed. The striker insists there is a clear plan behind his staggered integration into the starting XI.

“We are talking, of course, but everyone believes in me,” Sesko revealed. “They are getting me ready to start as soon as possible. No matter how many minutes I’m getting, I’m focusing on delivering.”

With a massive clash against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford this Sunday, Carrick faces his biggest selection dilemma yet: stick with the experience of the current front line, or finally unleash the “Main Man” from the first whistle.
