The Santiago Bernabéu is bracing for a summer of unprecedented change. Real Madrid are reportedly planning a significant squad overhaul in July 2026 to free up wage space and generate funds for elite reinforcements. According to journalist Rodra from ESPN, Brahim Díaz and Fran García are the primary candidates to be sold.

Despite their contributions, the Spanish duo is seen as valuable assets that could command high fees in the Premier League or Serie A. While Fran García’s move to Bournemouth was blocked in January, the club is now ready to sanction his departure alongside Brahim Díaz to fund a “Galáctico” summer.

The Defensive Exodus: Alaba, Rüdiger, and Carvajal

The most shocking part of the restructuring involves the club’s veteran defensive core. With the contracts of David Alaba, Antonio Rüdiger, and Dani Carvajal all set to expire on June 30, 2026, the board is carefully evaluating whether to offer short-term extensions or move on.

  • The Trent Factor: Real Madrid’s intense pursuit of Trent Alexander-Arnold suggests that Dani Carvajal’s legendary tenure at right-back is nearing its conclusion.
  • Injury Woes: Both Alaba and Rüdiger have struggled with fitness in the 2025/26 season, prompting Arbeloa to scout younger, more resilient center-backs.

Midfield and Left-Back Dilemmas

The report from El Larguero suggests that Dani Ceballos has also fallen out of favor. After being left out of the starting XI against Benfica, Ceballos’s role in Arbeloa’s project seems non-existent, despite having one year left on his deal.

Meanwhile, Ferland Mendy remains a source of frustration. Although his contract runs until 2028, the lack of offers during the winter window (as we reported earlier today) has left the club anxious to find a buyer by June.

Arbeloa’s Vision for 2026/27

With Marca reporting a “very busy” mid-year window, it is clear that Arbeloa and the board are looking to build a younger, faster, and more versatile squad. The funds generated from selling the likes of Brahim and García will be immediately reinvested into the defensive sector and a marquee creative midfielder.
