LEICESTER – A familiar face could soon be returning to the King Power Stadium. Enzo Maresca, who recently parted ways with Chelsea despite a trophy-winning stint at Stamford Bridge, has emerged as the frontrunner to take over the managerial vacancy at Leicester City.

The Italian tactician is currently a free agent after a fallout with the Chelsea board over recruitment strategy. Despite the friction in London, Maresca’s reputation remains high, and Leicester sees him as the “ideal architect” to revitalize their struggling campaign.

Filling the Void

Leicester City officially announced the departure of manager Martí Cifuentes in late January following a disappointing string of results that left the club drifting in the Championship standings.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Foxes’ board has already made contact with Maresca’s representatives. The management is reportedly working “around the clock” to secure an immediate leader who understands the club’s DNA—something Maresca proved during his previous memorable spell where he secured the club’s return to the elite.

While Maresca is the preferred choice, Leicester is keeping its options open. Express & Star reports that Portuguese manager Vítor Pereira is also on the club’s shortlist.

However, the sentiment among the fans and the board leans heavily toward the Italian. Talks are currently in the initial stages, but significant progress is expected in the coming days, as Leicester aims to have a new manager in place for their next league fixture.
