Noni Madueke explains why he switched from Chelsea to Arsenal

Noni Madueke has officially completed a high-profile transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal, citing his desire for personal development and a trophy-winning environment as the key reasons behind the move.
The 23-year-old England international signed a long-term deal with the Gunners and wasted no time in outlining his motivations. “I’m someone who follows my instincts most of the time, and I feel like that’s led me in the right direction so far,” Madueke said in his first interview as an Arsenal player. “I think it’s going to be a huge success, and I’m really happy to be here.”
Madueke, who was born in Barnet, expressed excitement about returning to his hometown. The move not only places him closer to family but also into a dressing room he described as “welcoming and family-like” qualities he says were reinforced through conversations with Arsenal stars Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Jurrien Timber.
The former Chelsea winger praised the structure and culture instilled by manager Mikel Arteta, noting the club’s growing potential to compete on multiple fronts. “The identity this team has built is one of ambition and unity. I believe we can win things here,” he added.
Known for his pace, agility, and direct approach, Madueke brings a versatile attacking threat to Arsenal’s flanks. He has pledged to make a difference in the final third by contributing both goals and assists. “I want to disrupt defences, create chances, and be decisive in big games,” he said.
Last season at Chelsea, Madueke scored 11 goals and recorded attacking metrics that rivaled some of the Premier League’s elite wingers, including Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah. His dribbling success and finishing ability helped elevate his profile, making him one of England’s most promising young forwards.
The addition of Madueke gives Arteta more depth in wide positions and may spark competition for starting roles alongside the likes of Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. While it’s unclear whether he will be a regular starter from the outset, his arrival adds firepower to a squad aiming to challenge for domestic and European honours.
