Frustrated by a lack of reinforcements, JJ targets the post-World Cup vacancy, setting up a legendary battle with José Mourinho for the role.

The tenure of Jorge Jesus at Al-Nassr appears to be reaching its final chapters. According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah, the Portuguese tactician is deeply dissatisfied with the club’s board due to a lack of communication and the failure to secure two key signings before today’s transfer deadline (February 4th).

The Post-World Cup Project

With his departure from Riyadh seemingly inevitable at the end of the season, ESPN Brasil reports that Jorge Jesus has already set his sights on his next challenge: the Portugal National Team.

The “Mister” believes that after decades of club success, the time is right to lead a national side. However, this move would only materialize in the second half of 2026, following the World Cup in North America, when the position currently held by Roberto Martínez is expected to be reassessed.

Jorge Jesus isn’t the only heavyweight vying for the job. Internal reports suggest he faces stiff competition from José Mourinho. According to insider Duncan Castles, the “Special One” remains optimistic about receiving a formal invitation from the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) after the World Cup.

The prospect of two of Portugal’s greatest-ever managers competing for the same dugout adds a massive layer of intrigue to the national team’s future.

Jorge Jesus at Al-Nassr: By the Numbers

Despite the internal friction, Jesus’ performance on the pitch has been stellar:

  • Matches: 29
  • Wins: 23
  • Standings: 2nd place in the Saudi Pro League (46 points), trailing leaders Al-Hilal by just one point.
