Arsenal have bolstered their goalkeeping options with the signing of Barbora Votíková, the club officially announced today.

The 29-year-old Czech international joins the Gunners after a stint at Slavia Praha, bringing a wealth of elite experience to North London. Votíková is no stranger to the big stage, having previously represented European giants PSG and Arsenal’s local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Her arrival marks a strategic move by the Arsenal board to provide depth and competition for the remainder of the 2025/26 season as the club fights on multiple fronts.

“A Dream to Play at the Emirates”

Speaking to Arsenal’s official media, Votíková couldn’t hide her excitement about the move.

“It’s an incredible feeling to be part of such a special club,” she said. “Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world, with an exceptional team and fanbase. Playing at the Emirates Stadium has always been a dream of mine, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Head coach Renée Slegers welcomed the new signing, emphasizing Votíková’s familiarity with the English game. “Barbora has extensive experience across Europe and knows the WSL well. She is an excellent addition to our roster for the challenges ahead,” Slegers noted.

WSL Title Race: A Huge Clash Awaits

The timing of the signing is crucial. Arsenal are currently chasing the Women’s Super League title but face a congested fixture list due to their recent participation in the Women’s Club World Cup.

The Gunners have a game in hand over their rivals, but all eyes are now on this Sunday’s massive showdown. Arsenal travel to face league leaders Manchester City in a match that could define the title race. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 GMT, and Votíková will be hoping to play a part in what is expected to be a sold-out clash at the Joie Stadium.
