The 2026 Spanish Women’s Super Cup (Supercopa de España Femenina) kicks off this Tuesday, January 20th. Following the “Final Four” format used in the men’s competition, four of Spain’s biggest clubs Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, and Athletic Club will battle for the first major domestic trophy of the year.

How the Tournament Works

The competition consists of two single-leg semi-finals, with the winners advancing to a winner-takes-all final.

Semi-Final 1: Real Madrid vs. Atlético Madrid (The Madrid Derby)

Semi-Final 2: Barcelona vs. Athletic Club (Athletic Bilbao)

The Road to the Super Cup: Who Qualified?

The qualification process is based on the previous season’s (2024/25) performances in Liga F and the Copa de la Reina:

  • Barcelona: Qualified as both the Liga F champions and Copa de la Reina winners. They enter the tournament as overwhelming favorites.
  • Real Madrid: Secured their spot as the runners-up in the 2024/25 Copa de la Reina.
  • Atlético Madrid: Earned their place through their consistent league performance, finishing as one of the top-ranked teams in the domestic standings.
  • Athletic Club: After an impressive 2024/25 campaign finishing 4th in Liga F, the Basque side claimed the final spot and a chance to win an unprecedented title.
