Palmeiras are actively looking to strengthen their midfield following the departure of Aníbal Moreno to River Plate and are reportedly in negotiations for André, the 24-year-old Brazilian currently at Wolverhampton.

Moreno Leaves, Palmeiras Seeks Replacement

Aníbal Moreno recently completed a move back to Argentina, joining River Plate for around US$7 million (R$38.6 million). The midfielder had expressed a desire to return home, leaving a vacancy in Palmeiras’ central midfield.

According to journalist Francisco de Laurentiis, the Palmeiras board is now focused on identifying a new number 5 to fill the gap. The plan to invest in a defensive midfielder had been defined previously, but Moreno’s departure accelerated the search.

André Emerges as Top Target

Among the players on Palmeiras’ radar is André, formerly of Fluminense and now a key figure at Wolverhampton. Sources, including Diego Firmino, indicate that Palmeiras may present an offer for the Brazilian in the upcoming transfer window.

The 24-year-old has a contract with Wolves until June 2029, and his market value is estimated at €28 million (R$182 million). Even amid Wolverhampton’s current struggles, a potential signing would represent a significant financial investment for Palmeiras.

European Competition Could Complicate Deal

André is also attracting interest from Europe. Turkish journalist Kagan Dursun reports that Galatasaray is preparing an offer of around €30 million (R$194 million), a figure that would be attractive to Wolverhampton.

However, André’s personal ambitions may influence the outcome. At 24 and in the prime of his career, he may prefer remaining in a top-tier league rather than moving to a less competitive environment like the Turkish Süper Lig.
