Chelsea captain Lucy Bronze has shared her perspective on the Women’s Super League title race as the Blues prepare to return to action in 2026. Despite losing ground in the standings, the experienced defender believes the championship battle is still very much open.
Chelsea Focused on Reclaiming Top Spot
Chelsea resume their 2025/26 WSL campaign next weekend with a home clash against West Ham in Round 12. The reigning champions know they can no longer afford mistakes as they attempt to regain first place after being overtaken by Manchester City, who sit top following an impressive run of 10 consecutive wins.
Although Chelsea remain one of the favorites to lift the title, the pressure has increased as the competition intensifies heading into the second half of the season.
Lucy Bronze Addresses the Title Fight
Speaking in a recent interview, Lucy Bronze highlighted the importance of Chelsea staying focused on their own performances rather than being distracted by rivals.
“We need to make sure we beat these opponents by a large margin. Nobody wants that, and City will have to pay close attention to what everyone else is doing, while we have to focus only on our own games,” Bronze said.
The England international also emphasized that Chelsea still have direct control over their destiny.
“Anyway, we still have to play City again. Part of it is in our hands, and there are still many games to play in the league, including important ones.”
Key Matches Still to Come
With a direct confrontation against Manchester City still on the calendar, Chelsea know that winning their remaining fixtures will be crucial in the title race. The squad is entering 2026 determined to respond strongly and defend their WSL crown.
Chelsea’s Next Match
Chelsea return to the pitch this Sunday (11) against West Ham, in a match valid for the 12th round of the Women’s Super League. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. (UK time), as the Blues look to start the year with a statement victory.
