The 32-year-old defender looks toward Serie A for regular football to secure his 2026 World Cup spot as his Old Trafford contract nears its end.

The long chapter of Harry Maguire at Old Trafford appears to be reaching its final pages. With his contract set to expire in June 2026, the former Manchester United captain is attracting serious interest from Italian giants AC Milan and AS Roma.

The Quest for World Cup Football According to Sky Sports, both Serie A clubs are closely monitoring Maguire’s situation. At 32, the veteran defender is reportedly eager for a more prominent role to ensure he remains in the plans for the England National Team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

While Maguire has seen a resurgence in form recently, he is not expected to be a pillar of the club’s long-term rebuilding project following the departure of Ruben Amorim. Consequently, a move to Italy a league known for revitalizing the careers of experienced English defenders is seen as a highly attractive option.

Free Agent or January Deal? Since Maguire’s current deal ends this summer, he is officially free to negotiate a pre-contract with overseas clubs. However, Milan and Roma could potentially look to fast-track a move in the final days of the January window to bolster their defensive lines for the second half of the season.
