Juventus seeks to negotiate Douglas Luiz to support the arrival of Hjulmand, from Sporting

Juventus is prepared to offload Douglas Luiz in a potential player-swap deal with Sporting CP, aiming to bring in Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand as part of its squad overhaul for the 2025/26 season.

Despite joining with high expectations, Douglas Luiz has struggled to establish himself in Juventus’ midfield. After being relegated to the bench last season, the former Vasco and Aston Villa player is no longer considered a priority in Turin.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus is considering offering Douglas Luiz to Sporting as part of a swap deal for Morten Hjulmand, who has impressed with the Portuguese club since arriving in 2023.

The Turin-based club hopes to use Luiz in the negotiation to reduce Sporting’s asking price for the 25-year-old Denmark international. Talks are still at an early stage, but Juventus sees this as a win-win opportunity for both clubs.

Interest From Premier League Clubs

While a swap with Sporting is a strong possibility, Premier League clubs have also expressed interest in Douglas Luiz, who remains highly rated in England after his consistent performances with Aston Villa.

Juventus is aware that a straight sale could bring in significant revenue, potentially exceeding €35 million, depending on the buyer.

Sporting’s Position Unclear

Sporting has not yet indicated whether it would be open to acquiring Douglas Luiz, although the club is believed to be open to reinforcing its midfield. Hjulmand is seen as one of their most valuable assets, and any decision could depend on Luiz’s willingness to accept a move to Portugal.
