Sancho close to returning to Borussia Dortmund in €20m deal as United cut losse

Jadon Sancho is nearing a sensational return to Borussia Dortmund, with Manchester United open to finalizing a transfer valued at €20 million (approximately £17 million), according to journalist Patrick Berger.

Manchester United Ready to Offload Sancho

After a turbulent spell at Old Trafford, Manchester United is eager to offload the 24-year-old winger. Sancho fell further down the pecking order under new manager Rúben Amorim, and his return from a disappointing loan at Chelsea hasn’t changed the club’s stance.

Now, Dortmund, where Sancho made his name between 2017 and 2021, has re-entered the picture. Talks are ongoing, and the German club is reportedly willing to meet United’s asking price to facilitate the reunion.

From Star to Surplus at Old Trafford

Sancho joined United in 2021 for €85 million, a figure that now appears increasingly unjustified. Across three seasons at the club, he managed just 12 goals and 6 assists in 83 appearances — a far cry from the form he displayed in the Bundesliga.

Once hailed as a generational talent, Sancho’s trajectory has taken a downturn, and United now views him as another failed investment during a tumultuous recruitment era.

Dortmund Believes in a Revival

Despite Sancho’s struggles in England, Dortmund remains confident that the winger can revive his career in a familiar environment. The player is also said to favor a return to Germany, where he enjoyed his best form notching 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games for BVB.

United Looking to Trim the Squad

With Rúben Amorim planning a leaner and more dynamic team, several high-profile exits are expected this summer. Sancho, whose wage demands have also been a sticking point, is among the first in line to leave.

A return to Dortmund could offer the England international a much-needed reset and give United the chance to recoup at least part of their massive investment.
