Real Madrid legend Dani Carvajal faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabéu as the club begins to transition toward a new era at right-back.

Following the high-profile arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold and the tactical flexibility provided by Federico Valverde, Carvajal’s status as an undisputed starter is under threat. The 34-year-old veteran, who has been a pillar of the club’s success for over a decade, is now entering the final six months of his current deal.

The “30-Plus” Policy at Valdebebas

President Florentino Pérez is notorious for his “30 Club” policy offering only one-year extensions to players over the age of 30. For Carvajal, the next five months are a “trial period.” He must prove that he has fully recovered his form following the serious injury he sustained in late 2024 to earn a place in the squad for the 2026/27 season.

Potential Move to Saudi Arabia

According to reports from OK Diario, Carvajal has no intentions of retiring yet. If a renewal agreement isn’t reached in Madrid, Saudi Pro League clubs are reportedly ready to offer the Spaniard a lucrative final contract. While his priority remains staying in the Spanish capital, the defender is aware of the club’s ruthless efficiency regarding aging stars.

Real Madrid’s Summer Strategy

While the club has confirmed they will not make any signings during this winter window favoring youth academy solutions the summer of 2026 is expected to be historic.

  • Current Focus: Integrating Alexander-Arnold into the starting XI.
  • Future Targets: Names like Vitinha (PSG) and Rodri (Manchester City) remain on the radar for a summer overhaul.

For now, all eyes are on Carvajal. Will the five-time Champions League winner defy the odds once more, or is his legendary chapter in Madrid coming to a close?
