Barcelona are prepared to allow Marc Casadó to leave the club during the January transfer window, even though head coach Hansi Flick would prefer to keep the midfielder. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan board will not block Casadó’s departure if the player formally requests a move in search of more regular playing time.
Board willing to listen to Casadó
The Spanish outlet reports that any potential exit will depend entirely on the player’s wishes. Internally, Flick values Casadó highly and has no intention of letting him go midway through the season. However, Barcelona’s hierarchy are open to respecting the midfielder’s decision should he feel his development would benefit from a move.
Casadó has played an important role this season, particularly during periods when Gavi and Pedri were sidelined through injury. With Pedri now back to full fitness, Casadó is expected to return to a bench role, which could influence his thinking in the coming weeks.
Long-term trust in Casadó remains strong
Despite being open to a possible January exit, Barcelona continue to see Casadó as a key part of their medium- and long-term project. Last season, the La Masia graduate impressed under Flick, exceeding expectations and earning a contract extension as a reward for his performances.
According to Sport, the club have already resumed talks over a further renewal, with Barcelona proposing an extension that would keep Casadó at Camp Nou until June 2030. The midfielder is well regarded within the club and is fully aware that he remains in the coaching staff’s plans.
Marc Bernal also under consideration
Casadó is not the only young midfielder whose future is being evaluated. Marc Bernal finds himself in a similar situation: valued by Flick and the club, yet potentially available for a temporary move to gain experience.
Barcelona are considering loaning Bernal rather than selling him. Fabrizio Romano reports that Girona are a possible destination, with Barça’s strong relationship with the club smoothing the path for negotiations if all parties agree.
