Arsenal and Manchester United shared the points after a 0–0 draw in the 12th round of the Women’s Super League (WSL), with neither side able to gain ground in the league standings. The highly anticipated clash took place on Saturday (10) at the Emirates Stadium.

Stalemate at the Emirates

Backed by a strong home crowd, Arsenal controlled long spells of the match but were unable to turn their territorial advantage into goals. The result prevented the Gunners from closing the gap on second-placed Chelsea in the WSL title race.

The first half was open and competitive, with both teams creating chances. However, solid defensive organization on both sides limited clear-cut opportunities, keeping the scoreline level at the break.

Red card fails to change the outcome

The match swung in Arsenal’s favor in the second half when Manchester United defender Jayde Riviere was sent off in the 65th minute. Despite playing with a numerical advantage for over 25 minutes, the Gunners could not find a breakthrough, as United defended resolutely to secure a point away from home.

Impact on the WSL standings

The draw leaves Arsenal in third place in the Women’s Super League with 23 points, missing an opportunity to strengthen their position in the top three. Manchester United remain provisionally fourth with 22 points, though they could be overtaken if Tottenham, currently fifth, win their match later in the round.

Focus shifts to the Women’s FA Cup

With the league fixture concluded, both teams now turn their attention to the Women’s FA Cup. Arsenal are set to face Aston Villa, while Manchester United will take on Burnley. Both cup ties are scheduled for next Sunday (18).
