The match was a direct battle for the top positions in the league table. Atlético de Madrid entered the round in fourth place, aiming to close the gap on third-placed Real Sociedad with a home victory. However, the advantage was short-lived. Real Sociedad mounted a rapid comeback, with Edna Imade scoring twice in quick succession in the 29th and 32nd minutes to swing the match back in the visitors’ favor before halftime.
Second-half drama and late comeback
Atlético de Madrid came out strong after the break and restored parity in the 48th minute through Julia Bartel. Just nine minutes later, Amaiur Sarriegi appeared to complete the comeback, putting Atlético ahead 4–3.
The hosts extended their lead in the 64th minute, with Synne Jansen scoring her second goal of the match to make it 5–3, seemingly sealing a crucial win.
But Real Sociedad were not done. Just one minute later, Emma Ramírez pulled one back, reigniting the contest. The dramatic finale arrived in the 79th minute, when Edna Imade completed her hat-trick to make it 5–5 and secure a remarkable point away from home for the Basque side.

With the draw, Real Sociedad remain in third place in the La Liga F standings, while Atlético de Madrid stay close behind in fourth, with the gap between the two sides unchanged.
