Arsenal have officially renewed the contract of women’s team manager Renée Slegers until 2029, reinforcing the club’s long-term commitment to remaining among the elite of women’s football.

The extension comes on the back of Arsenal’s historic triumph in the 2024/25 UEFA Women’s Champions League, a title that marked a turning point for the Gunners after years of inconsistency at the highest level.

Arsenal Strengthen Long-Term Project in Women’s Football

Despite being one of England’s biggest clubs, Arsenal have often struggled to maintain sustained success on the pitch. That narrative began to change last season, as the club doubled down on investment, squad continuity, and leadership stability.

Renée Slegers, widely credited as one of the key architects of the Champions League victory, has now been rewarded with a long-term deal that reflects the club’s trust in her vision and methods.

Slegers Reacts to Contract Renewal

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United, Slegers expressed gratitude for the club’s confidence while acknowledging the responsibility that comes with the extension.

“Of course, this is very positive, and I’m grateful for the opportunity and the trust the club has shown in me,” she said. “But it also brings a huge responsibility to make sure the team, the football, and everything around it continue moving in the right direction.”

The Dutch coach emphasized that her work goes beyond short-term results, highlighting her focus on building a sustainable structure for the future.

“With more time, you can implement projects that last. The day I leave, I want something strong to be in place for the next person. I won’t be here forever, but Arsenal will be,” Slegers concluded.
