Tottenham Beat Leeds Away and Stay on Liverpool’s Heels in Premier League

Tottenham kept pace with the Premier League leaders after defeating Leeds United 2-1 at Elland Road this Saturday (4), in the seventh round of the competition. Goals from Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus secured the victory for the London side, who remain firmly in the title race.

Tel Opens, Okafor Responds

The first half was balanced, with chances for both sides. Spurs struck first in the 22nd minute when Mathys Tel dribbled past his marker on the right side of the box and finished with his right foot to make it 1-0.

Leeds responded quickly. In the 34th minute, Noah Okafor equalized, capitalizing on a rebound from goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after Brenden Aaronson’s strike.

Kudus Seals It for Spurs

In the second half, Tottenham pressed higher and were rewarded in the 56th minute. Mohammed Kudus stole the ball from Gabriel Gudmundsson and fired a low shot past the goalkeeper to restore the lead.

Leeds pushed late on and almost equalized in stoppage time with Joël Piroe, but Vicario produced a crucial save to preserve the three points.

Spurs Stay Close to Liverpool

With the victory, Tottenham remain within touching distance of Liverpool, who lead the Premier League table. The result also extended Spurs’ strong run under manager Thomas Frank, keeping them among the early-season title contenders.
