Zenit’s Pedro reaches agreement with Al-Ittihad, but Russian club blocks transfer

Brazilian striker Pedro, formerly of Corinthians and currently at Zenit, has reportedly agreed to join Al-Ittihad, the Saudi club of Karim Benzema. However, Zenit is refusing to release the 19-year-old immediately, creating a transfer standoff.
Verbal Agreement in Place
According to journalist Santi Aouna, Zenit and Al-Ittihad have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer, with the player also approving the move. Despite this, Zenit’s board has decided to delay the release, citing internal club changes.
The Russian side is only willing to let Pedro leave in December, effectively blocking an immediate transfer before the Saudi window closes.
Player Pushing for Exit
Pedro’s priority is to join Al-Ittihad now, where he hopes to play alongside Benzema. His representatives are pressing Zenit to finalize the deal before the deadline, but negotiations remain tense.
Pedro’s Career at Zenit
- Joined Zenit in 2023/24 after leaving Corinthians
- First season: 15 appearances, 3 goals
- Second season: 36 matches, 5 goals, 5 assists
- Current season: 9 matches, 1 assist
- Contract valid until December 2028, valued at €10 million
At just 19, Pedro is seen as one of Brazil’s promising young strikers, but his future now depends on whether Zenit will soften its stance.
