Gabriel Pec rejects Lyon transfer as LA Galaxy rejects $16 million offer

Gabriel Pec, former Vasco forward and now one of LA Galaxy’s key players, has drawn serious interest from Lyon. However, the French club’s $16 million (R$97.3 million) bid was rejected, keeping the 23-year-old in Major League Soccer.
LA Galaxy Refuse to Sell
According to GE, Lyon submitted their offer in the final days of the European summer window. Despite the formal approach, the MLS side declined, unwilling to part ways with a player viewed as crucial for the remainder of the season.
It’s not the first time Pec has been courted. Earlier this year, a Qatari club offered around €20 million (R$109 million), but Galaxy also turned that proposal down.
Key Role in the Squad
Galaxy’s decision reflects Pec’s importance to the team. Since arriving in MLS, the forward has become one of the competition’s standout players, tallying:
- 75 matches
- 30 goals
- 21 assists
His consistency has made him indispensable in Los Angeles, where he’s expected to remain at least until the next transfer window.
Dreaming of Liverpool
In a recent interview with Lance!, Pec revealed his long-term ambition: to one day play for Liverpool in the Premier League.
“I’ll talk about a top dream: I think a very big desire I have in my heart is to one day join Liverpool,” the striker said, adding that he remains focused on his present with Galaxy.
Interest From Brazil Too
Before Lyon’s offer, Palmeiras had monitored Pec as a potential reinforcement. But the player showed no desire to return to Brazil, prioritizing his growth in international football.
