Mbappé shines as Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad despite an early red card

Real Madrid maintained their perfect start to LaLiga with a hard-fought victory over Real Sociedad at Anoeta, led by a dazzling performance from Kylian Mbappé.

A Dream Start from Mbappé

The French superstar needed only 15 minutes to stamp his authority on the match. He:

  • Scored a trademark breakaway goal.
  • Hit the post after a dazzling dribble past Zubeldia.
  • Nearly assisted an opener before it was ruled offside.

Mbappé’s explosiveness set the tone for Madrid, who looked in control until a controversial moment turned the game upside down.

Huijsen’s Red Card Changed Everything

After half an hour, defender Dean Huijsen was shown a straight red for a foul on Oyarzabal. With Éder Militão close by, the decision was heavily debated, leaving Madrid down to ten men for over an hour.

From that point, Sociedad grew into the game, with Oyarzabal and Barrene threatening down the wings, while young Goti impressed despite a costly error leading to the opener.

Real Sociedad Fight Back

Madrid looked to extend their lead but were denied by goalkeeper Remiro and the woodwork. In the second half, a Carvajal handball gifted Sociedad a penalty, calmly converted by Oyarzabal to make it 2-1.

Coach Sergio Francisco’s substitutions, including Soler and Aranburu, tilted the momentum in the Basque side’s favor. However, Courtois produced key saves, and Militão held firm at the back to preserve the lead.

Mbappé the Difference-Maker

Even in the closing stages, Mbappé remained Madrid’s biggest weapon, almost finishing a counterattack in Ronaldo-esque fashion. His link-up with young star Arda Güler was electric, highlighting why the Frenchman is quickly becoming the face of LaLiga.

What’s Next for Madrid?

Despite playing much of the match with 10 men, Madrid came away with all three points, keeping them at the top of the table. Coach Xabi Alonso will be pleased with the resilience shown, especially from Courtois and Militão, but it was Mbappé’s brilliance that made the difference once again.
