Barcelona and Benfica ahead of Juventus in race to sign Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva

Bernardo Silva’s future at Manchester City is increasingly uncertain, and three European giants are already battling for his signature. With his contract set to expire in June 2026, the Portuguese star could leave the Etihad Stadium for free and is already attracting heavy interest from Barcelona, Benfica, and Juventus.

Barcelona and Benfica push for Bernardo Silva

Barcelona have long admired Bernardo Silva and are preparing a strategy to secure him on a free transfer next summer. Meanwhile, Benfica, the club where Silva began his professional career, see this as a golden opportunity to repatriate one of their biggest homegrown talents.

From January 2026, the 31-year-old midfielder will be legally free to sign a pre-contract with another team, and Benfica are reportedly moving quickly behind the scenes to strike a deal.

Juventus join the race

Italian giants Juventus have also entered the competition. According to Portuguese outlet Record, the Turin-based club are keen to add Silva to their squad without a transfer fee, continuing their recent trend of investing in Portuguese players such as Tiago Djaló, João Costa, Renato Veiga, and Francisco Conceição.

Bernardo Silva remains decisive for City

Despite speculation over his future, Bernardo Silva is still a crucial piece for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. So far in the 2025/26 season, the midfielder has played four matches for club and country, scoring once and providing an assist.

Currently valued at €38 million (R$238.8 million), Silva’s age (31) has not prevented him from remaining a consistent performer at both club and international level.
