Liverpool breaks record spending with €483 million transfer window, the biggest in English football history

Liverpool have rewritten Premier League history with a record-breaking transfer window worth €483.68 million (R$3 billion), the most expensive ever by an English club. The reigning champions confirmed six high-profile signings as part of a major squad overhaul under new manager Arne Slot.

Record investment reshapes squad

The spending spree, led by new sporting director Richard Hughes, comes after the departures of key players including Luis Díaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Darwin Núñez, and Jarell Quansah. Despite those losses, the club delivered on captain Virgil van Dijk’s promise of a “great summer” following their Premier League triumph.

Liverpool twice broke the British transfer record in one window, securing Alexander Isak for €150M and Florian Wirtz for €125M. Both players are expected to make an immediate impact, boosting Liverpool’s attacking power and long-term competitiveness.

Six reinforcements arrive

In addition to Isak and Wirtz, Liverpool completed four more signings:

  • Hugo Ekitike (€95M)
  • Milos Kerkez (€40M)
  • Jeremie Frimpong (€35M)
  • Giovanni Leoni (€35M)

The arrivals underline the club’s mix of proven stars and emerging talent, aimed at sustaining domestic dominance while reclaiming European glory.

Missed out on Guehi

One deal that collapsed late was for Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace. The defender had even undergone medical tests, but the transfer fell through after Palace failed to secure a replacement in time.

A new era at Anfield

With €483M spent, Liverpool have not only set a Premier League record but also sent a clear message to rivals across Europe. Arne Slot’s rebuilt squad blends experience with youth, signaling the Reds’ determination to defend their league crown and mount a serious challenge for the Champions League.
