Real Madrid agrees to release Asencio to Fenerbahçe, who are looking for reinforcements after announcing Ederson

Fenerbahçe have set their sights on Real Madrid defender Asencio, just days after announcing the signing of Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson. With the Turkish transfer window still open until September 11, the club is exploring last-minute moves to bolster their squad.

Real Madrid open but transfer unlikely

According to Spanish reports, Real Madrid are willing to loan Asencio, who has fallen out of favor under new manager Xabi Alonso. The defender slipped down the pecking order behind Rüdiger, Militão, Huijsen, and Alaba, limiting his chances of playing time this season.

Despite Madrid’s openness to a loan, a deal appears unlikely. Journalist Carlos Butragueño claims that Asencio, who extended his contract until 2031, remains happy at the club and is not planning to leave the Santiago Bernabéu.

Real Madrid’s 2026 overhaul

Looking ahead, Los Blancos are preparing for a major squad reshuffle in 2026. Several key players, including David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger, could depart once their contracts expire. Ceballos also came close to leaving for France this summer, but pulled out late in the window.

Meanwhile, Endrick, now wearing the No. 9 shirt, will evaluate his future at the end of the upcoming season. With Mbappé and Gonzalo García ahead of him, his playing time remains uncertain.

Potential reinforcements already targeted

Florentino Pérez and the Madrid board are eyeing reinforcements for the near future. Among the priorities is Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté, considered a natural successor to Rüdiger. In midfield, the shortlist includes Vitinha (PSG), Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool), and Enzo Fernández (Chelsea).
