Inter Milan trusts Lautaro Martínez as captain and leads the attack against Juventus

All eyes will be on Lautaro Martínez this Saturday (13), when Inter Milan visit Juventus at Allianz Stadium for the third round of Serie A. The Argentine striker, captain of the Nerazzurri, is expected to spearhead Cristian Chivu’s attack.
Lautaro’s Role in the Derby d’Italia
Since joining Inter in 2018, Lautaro has grown into the team’s technical leader and locker-room reference point. Against Juventus, he will form his usual attacking duo with Marcus Thuram.
Chivu praised the squad’s readiness after the international break:
“The important thing is that everyone is ready to play the match. Representing your country gives players extra energy, and now we bring that to the derby,” said the coach.
Possible Debut for Manuel Akanji
New signing Manuel Akanji has been added to the squad list and could make his debut, although he is likely to start on the bench.
Inter’s expected lineup: Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Çalhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro Martínez, Marcus Thuram.
Chivu emphasized the magnitude of the Derby d’Italia:
“Both teams know what this game represents. We need the right mindset, calm, and energy to manage every moment.”
Lautaro Earns Fan Recognition
The Inter captain was recently voted Player of the Month (August) by fans, receiving the Betsson Sport Award, further underlining his importance ahead of one of Italy’s biggest rivalries.
