Haaland dreams of playing for Real Madrid, but Mbappé and Vinicius Júnior ‘prevent’ the deal

Erling Haaland remains determined to play for Real Madrid one day, but the Norwegian striker’s path to the Bernabéu is complicated. With Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior thriving in attack, the Spanish giants see no urgent need to break up their frontline.
Why Haaland’s Madrid dream is on hold
According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Haaland has not hidden his wish to wear the famous white shirt of Real Madrid. However, for the deal to happen, the club would likely need to sacrifice one of its biggest stars either Vinícius Júnior or Mbappé.
At the moment, this scenario looks unlikely. Vinícius has yet to officially renew his contract, but he has repeatedly stated that his priority is to stay in Madrid. Meanwhile, Mbappé has settled quickly under Xabi Alonso, scoring three goals in as many matches to start the 2025/26 season.
City striker continues to shine in England
Despite Manchester City’s recent setbacks in the Premier League, Haaland has begun the new campaign strongly. The Norwegian already has three goals in three matches, showing once again why he remains one of the most lethal forwards in the world.
Madrid turns focus to defense
With Haaland out of reach for now, Florentino Pérez and Madrid’s board are prioritizing defensive reinforcements. Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté has emerged as a top target, while former youth product Jacobo Ramón, now at Como, could be brought back in 2026.
In attack, the squad is already stacked. Alongside Mbappé and Vinícius, the club has Rodrygo, who rejected interest from Manchester City, and youngsters Gonzalo García and Endrick, who are expected to see more minutes this season.
