Barcelona open to selling Gavi for €80 million amid PSG interest

French giants prepare major offer as Catalan club seeks financial relief
Paris Saint-Germain are preparing an official €80 million bid for Barcelona midfielder Gavi, according to reports from Fichajes. The 20-year-old, once seen as a cornerstone of Barça’s future, may be on his way out as the club continues to make adjustments under head coach Hansi Flick.
Gavi, who made 42 appearances last season, has reportedly lost his place as a regular starter. Barcelona, facing financial pressure and seeking to comply with La Liga’s salary regulations, are now open to negotiations with the French champions.
PSG aims to boost midfield depth
PSG, the reigning Champions League winners, are targeting the young Spanish international to reinforce their already star-studded midfield. If the deal goes through, Gavi would compete with Vitinha, João Neves, and Fabián Ruiz for a starting spot under manager Luis Enrique.
Sources indicate the offer will be officially submitted in the coming days, with PSG willing to meet Barcelona’s asking price of €80 million equivalent to approximately R$514 million at the current exchange rate.
Gavi’s role diminished after injury setback
Once a consistent starter, Gavi made his senior debut in 2021/22 and quickly became a key figure, playing 47 games in his first season and contributing two goals and five assists. He followed that up with 49 appearances in 2022/23.
However, a serious injury last season kept him out for several months. Upon returning, Gavi struggled to regain top form, and his minutes declined under Flick’s new tactical system.
Despite this, PSG remain confident in his potential and believe the Spanish midfielder fits the long-term vision of the club.
Lewandowski could also depart
In addition to Gavi, veteran striker Robert Lewandowski is being linked with a move away from Camp Nou. Reports from Mundo Deportivo suggest the Polish international has once again attracted interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.
While Barcelona are not actively shopping Lewandowski, they are unlikely to block an exit if the player expresses a desire to leave.
