Barcelona will host Valencia at the Johan Cruyff Stadium after authorization for Camp Nou failed

The Blaugrana club confirms a temporary move to its smaller venue due to ongoing renovations at Camp Nou.
Camp Nou remains closed
Barcelona will face Valencia on Sunday, September 14, at the Johan Cruyff Stadium after failing to secure the necessary clearance to reopen Camp Nou. The club has been working behind the scenes to partially reopen the iconic stadium, which is still undergoing major renovations, but was unable to meet the required standards in time.
The Johan Cruyff Stadium, which hosts the women’s team and previously the Joan Gamper Trophy, has a capacity of just 6,000 spectators. Despite the setback, Barcelona confirmed it continues efforts to return to Camp Nou as soon as possible. The stadium renovations are now at an advanced stage, with a projected cost of R$9.5 billion.
Limited ticket sales
Barcelona announced that tickets for the Valencia match will be sold exclusively to members who purchased the full match plan for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons.
“If demand exceeds availability, a lottery will be held to allocate tickets. All tickets are personal and non-transferable,” the club stated.
LaLiga grants exception
Normally, LaLiga requires stadiums to have a minimum capacity of 8,000 to host top-tier matches. However, the league granted Barcelona an exception to play at the smaller Johan Cruyff Stadium.
The move comes as Barcelona races against time to host PSG at Camp Nou in the Champions League on October 1, hoping the renovations will be completed by then.
