Al-Hilal eyeing Darwin Núñez as Mitrovic nears transfer to Al-Rayyan

Al-Hilal’s attack is set for another shake-up. After securing Brazilian forward Marcos Leonardo, the Saudi giants now prepare for the arrival of Darwin Núñez, while Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic edges closer to a transfer to Qatar’s Al-Rayyan.

Mitrovic Leaving for Qatar

According to journalist Nicolò Schira, Mitrovic has agreed personal terms with Al-Rayyan, where he will sign a contract until 2028. The 30-year-old striker, who joined Al-Hilal in 2023 after six seasons with Fulham, quickly became one of the Pro League’s most lethal scorers.

  • 2023/24 season: 40 goals, 7 assists (43 matches)
  • 2024/25 season: 29 goals, 7 assists (36 matches)

Despite his numbers, the arrival of Darwin Núñez has reduced his role under coach Simone Inzaghi, opening the door for his departure.

Darwin Núñez, the New Star

Al-Hilal is betting big on Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez, who arrives from Liverpool as the new leader of the attack. With Marcos Leonardo also joining from São Paulo, the Saudi side wants to refresh its frontline with youth and explosiveness.

Squad Adjustments Continue

Mitrovic’s exit is not the only change. Renan Lodi is also expected to leave the club, as Al-Hilal fine-tunes its squad for the Pro League season.

So far, the team’s list of foreign players includes:

  • Bono (goalkeeper)
  • João Cancelo (right-back)
  • Koulibaly (defender)
  • Milinkovic-Savic and Rúben Neves (midfielders)
  • Darwin Núñez, Malcom, and Kaio César (forwards)

Market Still Open

While European transfer windows have closed, Saudi Arabia’s market remains open until September 10, keeping Al-Hilal in the spotlight with potential blockbuster moves.
