David Alaba could take advantage of Besiktas’ interest in signing him to leave Real Madrid

David Alaba’s future at Real Madrid is uncertain. The Austrian defender, now in the final year of his contract, has attracted interest from Besiktas, who can still make signings until September 12, unlike most European clubs.

Besiktas Monitoring Situation

According to Fichajes.net, Besiktas is considering a formal offer for Alaba, who has struggled to secure a role under new coach Xabi Alonso. Tested in midfield during preseason, Alaba failed to impress and has not started any of Madrid’s opening LaLiga fixtures.

Despite the situation, the 32-year-old has publicly stated that he does not wish to leave the Santiago Bernabéu, insisting he can still be a valuable asset. However, Florentino Pérez and the Madrid board reportedly view his case differently.

Financial Burden for Real Madrid

Alaba joined Madrid on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in 2021, but the deal has become financially problematic:

  • Salary: €22.5 million per season (≈ R$143m)
  • Second-highest paid player in Madrid’s squad
  • Appearances: 116 matches
  • Time out injured: 630 days (118 missed matches)

This imbalance between cost and contribution has left the board open to offloading him.

Market Value and Negotiation Flexibility

Currently valued at €6 million (≈ R$38m) by Transfermarkt, Alaba would not command a significant fee. Given his contract situation and high wages, Real Madrid is expected to be flexible if Besiktas formalizes negotiations.
