After leaving Manchester United, Christian Eriksen signs with Wolfsburg and rejects Leverkusen

Christian Eriksen has found his next destination after leaving Manchester United. The Danish midfielder has agreed to join Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, choosing the German club over Bayer Leverkusen, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Wolfsburg Moves Quickly to Secure Eriksen

Negotiations with Wolfsburg had been ongoing for several days, but the club acted decisively, finalizing an agreement before Leverkusen could make a comparable offer. At 33 years old, Eriksen brings experience and creativity to Wolfsburg’s midfield, making him a priority signing for the German club.

Eriksen spent three seasons at Manchester United, joining in July 2022. While he was an important part of the squad at times, he decided it was the right moment to pursue a new challenge in Germany.

Registration Outside the Transfer Window

Even though the Bundesliga transfer window is closed, Eriksen can still be registered because he is a free agent. This rule allows players without a contract to sign with clubs at any time, giving Wolfsburg flexibility to integrate the Dane immediately.

Interest Beyond Germany

Eriksen also explored opportunities outside Europe. Reports from journalist Fabio Vargas indicate he was offered to Grêmio in Brazil. Danish teammate Martin Braithwaite encouraged the move, hoping to see Eriksen at the Tricolor club. However, negotiations did not progress, and Eriksen’s next chapter will be in the Bundesliga.
