Lucas Vázquez accepts offer from Bayer Leverkusen after leaving Real Madrid

Lucas Vázquez has reached an agreement to join Bayer Leverkusen, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Spanish full-back, free on the market after leaving Real Madrid, is expected to undergo medicals before being officially announced as the Bundesliga club’s newest signing.
Free after Real Madrid exit
The 33-year-old defender ended his long spell with Real Madrid in July after the club decided not to renew his contract. Since then, he has been approached by several European clubs and also received offers from the Middle East, but ultimately chose to continue his career in Germany.
Leverkusen secures experienced reinforcement
Negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen had been ongoing for weeks and were concluded this Monday (25). The deal was described as positive on all sides, with the player eager to embrace a new challenge in the Bundesliga.
Although details of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, reports suggest the contract will be short-term, lasting one to two seasons. The official presentation is expected to take place this Tuesday (26).
Strategic signing for Ten Hag
Vázquez is expected to add depth and experience to Erik Ten Hag’s squad, which is preparing for another demanding season in domestic and European competitions. The Spanish veteran brings versatility, as he can operate both as a full-back and a winger.
