What Cristiano Ronaldo told Jorge Jesus to sign with Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo played a decisive role in bringing Jorge Jesus to Al-Nassr, with the Portuguese coach admitting that his compatriot’s personal invitation was the key factor behind his return to Saudi Arabian football.
Ronaldo’s Influence
“Without his invitation, I might not be here,” Jorge Jesus revealed in an interview. “The motivation will be high. I’ll try to help Al-Nassr win titles, especially since Ronaldo hasn’t won any yet. I want to help him achieve that.”
The coach, who left Al-Hilal in May after lifting two Saudi Super Cups and a King’s Cup, takes charge of one of his former club’s biggest rivals.
A New Challenge in Saudi Arabia
Jesus compared his move to crossing the divide in Portuguese football. “It’s like leaving Benfica for Sporting. I did it in Portugal, and now I’ll do it here too,” he explained.
His contract with Al-Nassr runs until June 2026, while Cristiano Ronaldo has already extended his deal until June 2027, ensuring the duo will share the project for at least two seasons.
Title Ambitions
The Portuguese tactician’s arrival comes at a crucial time. Al-Nassr, despite high-profile signings, has endured a domestic title drought and faces pressure to make a stronger impact in continental competitions. Jesus emphasized his commitment: “Wherever I’ve been, I’ve won. Now I’ll try to repeat that at Al-Nassr.”
Gratitude for Al-Hilal
Despite taking over their fiercest rival, Jesus expressed gratitude toward his former club. “I was treated very well there, by the fans and everyone. But now it’s a different life, a new life. The focus is to help Al-Nassr win titles again, because it’s been years since they last did.”
