Chelsea intend to sell Sterling, Nkunku and eight other players in the current transfer window

Chelsea could part ways with up to 10 players in the current transfer window, including senior names such as Raheem Sterling, Christopher Nkunku and Ben Chilwell, as the club look to reshape their squad under Enzo Maresca.

Major Exits Expected

According to The Sun, Sterling is the most urgent case. The 30-year-old winger, who spent last season on loan at Arsenal, has failed to settle at Stamford Bridge since arriving from Manchester City. While another loan is possible, Chelsea’s preference is a permanent sale.

Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Axel Disasi, Carney Chukwuemeka, David Datro Fofana and Chilwell are also among those on the list. In addition, academy prospects Tyrique George, Aaron Anselmino and Renato Veiga may also be allowed to leave, either through sales or further loan spells.

Transfer Strategy

Chelsea have already spent close to €300 million this summer, highlighted by the signing of João Pedro from Brighton for more than €60 million. The club aim to balance the books by generating funds through player sales, while also reducing their wage bill.

The departures would free up space for new additions, with Xavi Simons (RB Leipzig) and Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United) among the names being targeted to bolster the attack.

Long-Term Project

After lifting the FIFA Club World Cup last season, Chelsea’s board remain committed to building a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title again. Clearing out players not in Maresca’s plans is seen as essential to that goal.
