Vlahovic strikes off the bench as Juventus edge Genoa in Serie A thriller

Dusan Vlahovic came off the bench to head home the winner, giving Juventus a 1-0 victory over Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris and keeping the Bianconeri perfect in Serie A.

Vlahovic the difference-maker again

With Juventus struggling to break down Genoa’s defense, coach Igor Tudor turned to his star striker midway through the second half. The decision paid off in the 72nd minute, when Vlahovic rose to meet Filip Kostic’s corner and powered home the decisive header.

It was Vlahovic’s second crucial contribution in as many games, underlining his importance to Juve despite ongoing uncertainty over his contract renewal.

Juventus wasteful but resilient

The Bianconeri dominated the first half, pinning Genoa deep but failing to convert their chances. Yildiz dazzled on the left, creating a golden opportunity for Gatti, but goalkeeper Leali pulled off a superb save. Moments later, Jonathan David spurned a rebound with the goal wide open.

In the second half, Genoa’s defense held firm until Vlahovic’s entrance tilted the balance. Even then, Juve needed goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio to make a brilliant stoppage-time save from Ekuban, before Masini’s header crashed off the crossbar in a dramatic finale.
