Real Madrid is considering paying Porto’s Rodrigo Mora’s release clause

Real Madrid is considering triggering the €70 million release clause of Porto striker Rodrigo Mora, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes. The 18-year-old, hailed as one of the brightest talents in Portuguese football, has drawn interest from several European giants, including Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
The Merengues have already invested over €180 million in transfers this summer, but coach Xabi Alonso is reportedly seeking further reinforcements. His tactical plan for the upcoming season involves deploying two central strikers, moving away from the club’s traditional winger-based approach.
Tough negotiations expected
Any deal for Mora is expected to be challenging. Porto are unwilling to negotiate below the release clause, which is higher than any of Real Madrid’s recent signings. Mora, under contract until June 2030, was a key player for the Portuguese side last season, recording 11 goals and five assists in 35 appearances.
Manchester City’s interest, dating back to last season’s Club World Cup, could intensify competition for the young forward’s signature.
Focus remains on La Liga opener
While exploring the Mora option, Real Madrid’s immediate focus is on their La Liga debut. Alonso’s side will host Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabéu on 19 August, marking the former midfielder’s first league match in charge of the club.
